The increase in the use of digital devices has led to an increasing number of young people choosing to establish relationships through social networks, promoting unstable and poorly functional love bonds, warned the professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Rolando Díaz Loving.
Díaz Loving highlighted that the new virtual relationships, which some identify as “liquid relationships” or “disposable relationships”, far from producing pleasure and satisfaction, have generated a greater number of sentimental disappointments, episodes of depression and even suicide attempts.
The expert explained that people who enter a relationship through social networks do so apparently looking for someone, but in reality what happens is that they find a partner randomly, so it is likely that they are people with whom they have nothing in common. in terms of interests or visions of a social reality.
