Chronic back pain is not normal and can be overcome

Almost all of us suffer from back pain at some point in our lives, but many resign themselves to suffering from it all their lives by failing to find a solution and this failure is mainly due to not being clear about the causes that are generating this ailment.

Firstly, acute back pain can come on gradually or come on suddenly and can last a few days or a few weeks, but if it lasts for more than 12 weeks it is called chronic back pain . This is explained in the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, where it is specified that it is very common.

It is true that being overweight can have an influence, increasing the pressure on body structures, such as the spine, but it is not the cause of back pain.

Anyone can suffer from back pain, but we become more prone to it as we age; Also if we are not in good physical condition, because not having strength in the muscles does not provide the necessary support to the body and back.

Likewise, a sedentary lifestyle and smoking are also risk factors for suffering from back pain; And it should be noted that people who suffer from stress and psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety are also prone to suffering from this ailment .

Although the most common causes of back pain are, among many others, muscle strain, inflammation or rupture of the spinal discs; arthritis and osteoporosis it is possible to deal with it and relieve it.

To prevent it, strength and conditioning specialist and mind and body coach in professional sports, Dana Santas, says in an article  she authored for CNN that although there are various treatments and techniques that help alleviate it, exercise has been shown to be decisive to overcome this ailment and prevent it.
