Adriana Morales Rodríguez, a Ph.D. in Business Creation and Management, proudly represented Tec de Monterrey’s Tampico campus at the 6th International Conference on Future Education 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Under the theme “Advancements and Technological Innovations in Future Education,” this event united over 180 academics and professionals from more than 25 countries.
At the conference, Adriana played dual roles, serving as a Session Chair, moderating sessions, and presenting research she conducted in collaboration with two colleagues from Tec de Monterrey. Their study delves into the impact of virtual learning on education, particularly focusing on students’ perceptions during an academic rally utilizing virtual reality. This innovative approach aims to pave the way for further technological integration in classrooms.
The rally unfolded synchronously across 11 Tec de Monterrey campuses through avatars in a virtual world known as the Virtual Campus. Students collaborated at seven stations, answering questions related to conscious capitalism from the “Introduction to Conscious Business” course.
Following the acceptance of their research by the “Future Education” committee, Adriana and her team sought financial support from the Writing Lab to attend the conference in person. Tec de Monterrey’s Writing Lab, an initiative within the Institute for the Future of Education (IFE), champions a culture of research in educational innovation among faculty members. It offers technical assistance for producing scientific articles and financial support for participating in relevant conferences.
Adriana Morales also had the privilege of participating in the Humanistic Leadership Academy Cohort last year, where she had the opportunity to connect with fellow educators. She described the experience as “incredible” and praised her colleagues for their spirit and courage in transforming business education. The Humanistic Leadership Academy promotes practices for human well-being and aims to transform business education to nurture humanistic leaders dedicated to enhancing life’s flourishing.
Dr. Morales passionately states, “I have declared guiding people to find opportunities for personal and professional development as my purpose in life.” She aligns her mission with the principles of conscious capitalism, a business philosophy emphasizing a more humane approach and a commitment to a positive societal impact. This movement celebrates capitalism while striving to improve it, believing that companies should have a higher purpose beyond profit maximization.
Adriana Morales not only shared her message in Kuala Lumpur but also co-authored a chapter in the book “Empresas Mexicanas: el viaje hacia un Capitalismo Consciente” (Mexican Companies: Journey Toward Conscious Capitalism). The book highlights heartwarming examples of Mexican companies adopting conscious business practices. Adriana, in collaboration with two colleagues, contributed to the chapter on the company FRISA.
Furthermore, her dedication and impact on education earned her the prestigious Profesores Inspiradores 2023 (Inspirational Professors 2023) award, the highest institutional recognition for teaching excellence presented by Tec de Monterrey.
