Everything we can do to prevent cancer, degenerative, autoimmune diseases and, ultimately, any kind, is welcome. More so when it comes to simple tasks like incorporating new lifestyle habits or delicious ingredients into our diet. If we can help ourselves, why not do it? A simple habit can mean a lot to our health.
This is how science constantly advances in search of more solutions to protect and recover health, and often shows that in nature there are resources that can contribute. Such is the case of the nutrient that, according to a recent study, is decisive in the prevention of lung cancer.
It is possible that you have foods that contain it in your pantry because many of its benefits are already known, especially for heart health and as an ally to reduce the risk of strokes . It is now known that it can also be a shield to protect our lungs, not only from the worst of diseases, but from other conditions that can harm them.
The study , sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), adds to initiatives examining how nutritional interventions help prevent lung diseases, such as cancer , and among these nutrients, omega-3 fatty acids appear as an important alternative given their anti-inflammatory properties.
Patricia A. Cassano, Ph.D., director of the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and author of the research, says this study contributes to increasingly strong evidence that Omega-3 fatty acids, as part of a healthy diet, may also be important for lung health.
