The rock group formed by the Villarreal sisters had a successful performance at the VMA’s awards ceremony.
Peso Pluma was not the only Mexican representative at the MTV Video Music Awards 2023, but also The Warning, a Mexican rock band, had an outstanding participation at the awards ceremony where they took the stage to perform one of their greatest hits.
The group is composed of the Villarreal sisters named Daniela, who is only 23 years old, she plays the guitar and is the lead vocalist, Paulina, 21 years old, she is the drummer and performs the song Narcisista and last but not least is Alejandra, 18 years old, she is the bassist and backing vocalist.
The three are originally from the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, where from a very young age they began to perform some covers of famous songs like Enter Sandman by Metallica; however, it was in 2017 when they decided to release their first album: XXI Century Blood, already belonging to the project called The Warning.
Their last published song is a single titled More, one of their most popular musical compositions that led them to star in a commercial for an internationally recognized brand of soft drinks and it was precisely with this song that they decided to participate in the MTV Movie Music Awards 2023.
This is a great achievement for the young girls from Monterrey to have an outstanding participation at such a young age and only 4 months after the release of More, whose official video, at the time of this publication, has around 1.6 million views.
At the end of their show on stage at the VMA’s, they were widely applauded by the audience, including Taylor Swift, and were also introduced by reggaeton artist Anuel AA. This event did not go unnoticed and even shared memes of the moment.
Something that should be highlighted about The Warning and their music is that they decided to belong to the genres of rock with tints of metal and triumphed under this rhythm in the midst of a great wave of regional Mexican, especially the corridos tumbados, and reggaeton by musicians such as Bad Bunny, Natanael Cano, Peso Pluma or Grupo Frontera.
It is also important to mention that the band has songs in both English and Spanish with which, they themselves have said, they take their mother tongue and their roots in their songs wherever they go.
Their participation in the VMA’s is not the only success they have, they have also attended important concerts where they have been part of the opening acts of internationally known bands.
The Warning participated in Metallica’s anniversary album and Muse’s tour.
Among the achievements that the Villarreal sisters have reaped is having participated in the album released for the 30th anniversary of Metallica’s Blakclist album, where music legends such as Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, Miley Cyrus and even J Balvin also participated.
The Warning’s participation was with a cover of the legendary song Enter Sandman, alongside singer Alessia Cara.
On the other hand, they have the achievement of being the group that opened the concerts of the British band Muse for their tour in Europe, as well as the tour of the Knights of Cydonia performers in Mexico. What surprised the Villarreal sisters were the emotions with which they were received in cities in England, Scotland and Ireland.
As if this were not enough, in the past they were the opening act in different presentations of the iconic rock band Guns & Roses, so it is expected that in the future the importance of The Warning will continue to grow and this should represent a great pride for our country to see three young women born in Monterrey triumphing around the world.
